Follow the rules
最初は、真夏のプールサイド。
跳ね上がる水しぶきを描こうとしていた。
自由で気ままなその弧は、音や匂いとともに記憶の中から立ち上がってくる。
しかし、矢印を描き加えた瞬間、風景が変わった。
矢印は方向を示し、進むべき道を指し、時に命令のように響く。
まるで「こうすべき」と告げてくる社会の声のように。
水のように自由でいたい。
けれど、いつの間にか「ルールを守ること」が当たり前になっている。
この作品には、そんな葛藤が滲んでいる。
画面の中でぶつかり合う、衝動と規律。
導かれるままに進むのか、自分の意志で跳ね返るのか。
Follow the rules は、その問いを静かに投げかける。
Follow the rules
At first, it was poolside in the middle of summer.
I was trying to paint the splashing water.
The free and unrestrained arcs of the water rose from my memory along with the sounds and smells.
But the moment I added the arrow, the landscape changed.
The arrows indicated a direction, a path to follow, and sometimes sounded like a command.
It is like the voice of society telling us, “This is what you should do.
I want to be as free as water.
But before I know it, “following the rules” has become the norm.
This work is filled with such conflicts.
Impulses and discipline collide on screen.
Do we go forward as we are led, or do we bounce back with our own will?
‘Follow the rules’ quietly poses this question.
How the work is made?
今回はこの作品をリサイクル。
空白が多いのが気になったため。
いつものように、とりあえず色々置いてみる。
どうしても前の画面に引きずられてしまう。
そういう時は思い切って捨ててしまう。
前の画面をうまく活かせられる時もあるのだが、今回はできなかった。
プールの水飛沫のよう。
この時は平和だった。
プールの部分を何かで埋めたくなった。
で、矢印を入れたら、途端に自由が無くなり、空も曇り始めた。
矢印は案内でもあるが、指示でありルールにもなり得る。
仕方がないが、完成。
